Nick Barnes

Nick is an award winning puppet designer and maker, whose work has been seen on stages around the world.

He has worked alongside some of the leading theatre directors and companies making work today and continues to create puppets whose artistry and technical innovation bring pleasure to audiences and theatre makers alike.

For the early part of his career Nick co-led the groundbreaking puppet company Blind Summit Theatre, which he started in 1996 with a small grant from the National Lottery Fund and for which he was at various times maker, designer, performer and director. Nick toured the shows he made with Blind Summit to numerous festivals and theatres in more than 14 countries and as a designer and maker created puppets for some of the leading companies in the UK and abroad. In 2012 he was co-puppetry director for the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

He left Blind Summit in 2013 and moved to Hove, where he now runs Nick Barnes Puppets.
